Vocabulary Builder – Time

Hello! In this lesson, we will learn several nouns, verbs and adjectives in English which are used to describe time. We have already learned how to tell time in a previous lesson. Remember that nouns are words which refer to a person, place, or thing. Remember that adjectives are words which modify nouns or pronouns. Adjectives give us more information about a noun or a pronoun. Remember that verbs indicate an action or a state of being. Let us look at the most common words and phrases to tell time in English.

Listen carefully to the pronunciation of each word and watch the shape of my mouth as I speak. Then, say each word while watching your own mouth on the webcam. If you do not have your webcam connected, simply practice repeating the words.

What time is it?
What time is (event) at?

Great! In this lesson we learned many nouns, verbs, and adjectives which we use to tell time. Now you can describe time, as well as understand the words that someone may use to describe what time of day it is. You may revisit this lesson at any time if you need to remind yourself of any of this material.
